Where to look for Fossils at Shepherds Chine?

(Collecting from the Foreshore - 2006)

Most of the fossils can be found during scouring conditions. Fossils can often be picked up simply by picking them out of the clay. At Atherfield point, during scouring conditions, Lobsters can be found at low tide. All you need to do is take a knife or pick and lift them out from the clay. During the right conditions, these are found laying around the foreshore.

Between Shepherds Chine and Whale Chine, there is a hard, thin cement type layer. This layer is packed with teeth and is often found in a hard layer along the beach.

Fossils can also be found at the base of Scree slopes.
